Covid policy

We take your safety and the safety of our staff very seriously and we are also fully compliant with the current Covid restrictions in Wales and the local area authorities.

As a result we have made some changes for 2023 which we would like you to be aware of, particularly if you have attended the ride before as some things have changed from previous years. Cycling is an outdoor sport which means there is little risk whilst actually out riding either on your own or with one or two friends, but there are some areas of the event where we have made some changes to spread people out and avoid any crowds or queues.

Registration

Registration will take place from 17:00 to 19:00 on Friday 15th September in the Dovey Yacht Club and from 07:00 on 16th September 2023 at the Dovey Yacht Club which is the event headquarters for the ride. You are welcome to attend whichever of these suits the best.

If the weather permits we will conduct registration outside Dovey Yacht Club in the open air. If the weather is inclement we will do it in the downstairs area, which will include a one way system. Doors will be open at each end to allow for ventilation, but please present yourself to the marshal on the front entrance who will usher you in when space becomes available. Use the hand sanitizer provided and then enter via the front entrance and exit out of the back. Please do not enter via the designated exit.

Numbers will be limited inside so there may be a queue during busier times. Please respect the distance of others in the queue when this occurs. Riders are also required to wear a face covering when signing on and collecting their number/T-shirt/jersey.

Toilets and changing facilities will not be available in Dovey Yacht Club this year unfortunately, but there are public toilets just off the main road 100m away from HQ. Also the yacht club bar will not be open this year, but other pubs in the Village will be.

In summary:
  • Wear a face covering.
  • Sanitize your hands before entering.
  • Enter via the front entrance of Dovey Yacht Club, exit via the back.
  • Respect the social distance of others if required to queue.
  • Come anytime you like between 17:00 and 19:00 on Friday 15th or after 07:00 on Saturday 16th.

Covid Policy

Starting and start/finish area

In the interests of avoiding crowds and groups of people in close proximity we are not going to hold people in the 'pen' at the start line for the safety briefing this year. Instead, you can read the briefing notes here and they will also be printed and given to you at registration. Please read these carefully, it is very important that you are aware of the hazards, etiquette and regulations beyond Covid that this document outlines, for your own safety and the safety of others.

Once you have read the briefing, you are welcome to start when (and with whom) you wish within the time window for each route outlined below. Your timing will start when you cross the line and end when you re-cross it at the finish. Please avoid crowding at the start area and when you have finished and respect the distance of others.

Starting time windows:
  • Big Dog/Long route: 8.00 - 8.30am.
  • Standard route: 8.30 - 9.00am.
  • Fun route: 9.00 - 9.30am.

Feed stations

Food at feed stations will be served by the marshal(s) at the feed station who will deliver it in a Covid safe way. Please do not take food directly from containers and respect the social distances of other riders at the feed station. Hand sanitizer will be available at feed stations.

Out on the road

Please avoid riding in groups of more than six.
